Investors in Excellence recognises Birmingham Department of Governance

We are very proud to announce that  Birmingham City Council - Department of Governance has achieved the Investors in Excellence Standard.

The Department is made up of Regulatory Services, Legal Services and Democratic Services.  One of the key roles for the Department is to ensure that it does all it can to support the City Council to deliver the Council Plan and improve the lives of the citizens of Birmingham.

There are approximately 800 members of staff covering a wide range of front-line and other multi-disciplinary, professional and support services, including legal advice and representation for the City Council, Democratic Services, Elections, Registrars, Public Health & Food Safety, Trading Standards & Fair Trading, HM Coroners & Mortuary, Environmental Wardens & Protection, Licensing & Hackney Carriages,  Commercial investigations & Illegal Money Lending, and Data Protection  & Information Management.

Using the Excellence Model for the past ten years has enabled the Department to focus on successfully delivering its policy and strategy and to achieve continuous improvement.  Processes and procedures have also been updated and streamlined. 

As a result of the many changes introduced across the Department have seen a significant improvement in our relationship with our key customers and this has been reflected in our customer results.
